Marvin Thomas Strawn, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday October 12 at the age of 87. Thomas was born on October 31,1935, in Graysonia, Arkansas, to the late Marvinand Leona Strawn. He was a member of First Christian Church of Murfreesboro, AR and a retired Facility Manager for the Corps of Engineers.
Thomas was married to Carol, the love of his life on June 21,1977. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. They wereblessed with the joy of raising their son, Brent, and helping raise their grandson, Dillon, who brought them endless pride and happiness.
He loved nature, being outdoors and spending time with his children and grandchildren. His favorite hobbies included traveling, fishing, hunting andriding motorcycles with family and friends.
Thomas will be lovingly remembered for his warm heart, kind spirit, and unwavering love for his family. His gentle nature and infectious smile touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever be cherished by his family and a host of extended family and friends.
Survivors include Carol Strawn, wife of 46 years;sister, Betty Eastlick of Montague, CA; son, Brent Strawn (Angie) of Murfreesboro; grandson, Dillon Strawn (Katlyn) of Murfreesboro; two granddaughters, Madison Stout (D.C.) of Pocola, Oklahoma & Kelsi Frachiseur (Garrett) of Murfreesboro; seven great grandchildren, Kash Thomas and Khloe Strawn; Harper and Josie Stout; Henley, Gatlin and Mabrie Frachiseur; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate Thomas’s life will be held at the First Christian Church of Murfreesboro,with Brian Doyle officiating on Monday October 16, 2023 at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in the Murfreesboro Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro on October 15, from 6-8pm.
