What is the true meaning of prayer?
It's best to take a look at Jesus when he prayed.
John 17:1-5 Jesus prays that his father be glorified " When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, 2 since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. 4 I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed."
Prayer is not just communication between you and God, it's not just asking for your needs, it goes way beyond further than that. Prayer is complete and utter submission to God (Matthew 6:9-10). Prayer comes from us being humbled, knowing that we are not worthy of God and glorifying creator of the universe anyways.
Something to consider when you are praying,
1. We are praying to Yahweh Elohim, (God of all and God of 3)
2. We are praying to the God who sent his only son to die for us
3. We are praying to the God of forgiveness
4. And we are praying to the one true God, who gave us another chance to live for and with him forever.
We should always pray out of submission and glory to him!
